For the first time in many years, Exeter hosted a wave event! The weekend started with drinks at The Stoke Arms, and then we wandered down to the glorious Cavern. Here we boogied the night away to Exeter’s student DJs.
Saturday morning, we headed to Saunton Sands, which provided kilometers of stunning beach, but no wind. Despite the lack of wind, most of us had brought surfboards for this day’s antics. Exeter also provided boogie boards for those confident to engage in some extra steeze.
Saturday evening started at a house party to get drinks flowing. There are rumors of an intense breath-holding competition in buckets, and eyebrow trimmings… The group then wandered down to Bomba Nightclub, where we had a lovely dance to some house music. The night then escalated into an after party at one of the student houses. Equipped with speakers and beers, we were ready for a great ending to the night.
In hope for more wind the next day, Sunday did not live up to our expectations. AT this point we decided to go surfing again and have another play-day at the beach.
All in all, a very successful weekend! Thank you very much to everyone who came down, hope to see you all again next time!
Stay Steezy, until next time,

For the third year, students came to Southampton for a weekend of windsurfing and partying. Barely a minute after the first universities had arrived, we made the trek down into Portswood and to the Hobbit-themed cocktail – pub 'The Hobbit.' Drinks flowed, and spending an evening with new and old friends was great. Rumour has it that some even wandered over to the palace of dreams to finish the night….
Excitement could barely be contained as the new day began on Saturday morning. Safety briefing underway a mere 1.5 hrs late, a flock of students made their way onto Southampton water with a delightful 10-15 knots of wind, perfect for the 'morning' beginner session and some lovely intermediate racing. Well done to Caity Morley (Exeter) for first place, Imi Feeney (Bristol) in second, and Will Barnard (Bristol) in third.

Strange coincidence that Birmingham went from bringing five freshers to AK to only one to Northern Monkey, and the wind was incredible for us. Is anyone else thinking that some sort of sacrifice to the wind gods must have occurred?
