Adam President

Ladam Shortlad is a fine example of a technology collaboration between Germany and the UK. His ability at eating tomato ketchup is known to be one of the best in the world which as it happens was a side effect of having a pick-up-lines module installed in the frontal lobe part of his brain.

He secretly runs the whole of the SWA (without many people realising) while travelling the world seeking out fun wherever he goes, but he will always return to the UK for SWA events.

Jane Secretary Following a two year stint as SWA President, long standing member of Liverpool University Windsurf Club Jane is the SWA's new Secretary for 2017. Jane loves the SWA so much and couldn't bear to give up the student life, she is now doing her third degree studying Veterinary Science at Liverpool. When not on the water, Jane can be found propping up the bar, extolling the virtues of windsurfing to anyone polite enough to listen. She is famed for her fancy dress efforts, taking the worst photos on nights out, and her unparalleled ability to misplace her personal possessions at events. Jane loves nothing more than filing the company accounts getting as many people on the water as possible and seeing them develop. As well as managing the committee and advancing the SWA, she is keen to help clubs or individuals out wherever possible in return for gin or a good time*. *Good times include, but are not limited to: cycle tours around your city or a proper afternoon tea.
Richard Director

In 2008, an unsuspecting Fresher was harassed by phone email and Facebook into joining the UWE Windsurf Club. They conned him into parting with his recently acquired student loan to buy his ticket to Aussie Kiss 7. Six years later (despite having finally graduated), he still can’t seem to quit the SWA. He becaome SWA President and now he is a Director!

Like his Baywatch counterpart, The Hoff is passionate about everything SWA and keen to see as many people get involved as possible and at all levels of ability. He's approachable, friendly and an avid supporter of the rules of BUSWA (in particular those related to drinking!).

Don’t be shy, come and say hi! He wants to meet you all!

Ollie Tech Lead Ollie, also know as Scrappy, not because of his ability to fight like the love child of Jackie Chan and Rocky Balboa, but because of his personality traits being so inline with the infamous Scrappy Doo..... enthusiastically hyperactive, slightly annoying and full of beans! That is until he eats too much and finally falls asleep. Ollie has excelled rapidly within the windsurf / SWA community in every way apart from actually windsurfing! You will often find Scrappy bartering for the best deal on a tray of jagerbombs, recanting tales from the previous night or discussing how how happy a cacti can be!
Taffy Events Officer / Club Development

Alongside his many, diverse achievements, Taffy once completed a bee keeping course. This budding astrophysicist (retired) has been on the SWA scene and helping out at events for a while. He is extremely welsh and proud of it. Whenever he has a spare month -and an empty wallet- he returns home to work on a sheep farm in North Wales. Surprisingly, given the woolly mop on his head, he doesn’t like working with sheep and eventually the lure of more alcohol and a livelier party scene draws him away from the farm. This doesn’t always go well, once in Bristol, he woke up in “the place where all the homeless people live” while he was working at a call centre. Like a true Watersports Professional, Taffy now has his own watersports centre in Colwyn Bay with actual boats and everything.

Jack Events Team

At events this will be the man to get you out of bed in the morning. His endless stream of energy and banter will be sure to resurrect you and get you moving toward your windsurf kit.

Recently back from Nam, his banter now comes in a multilingual form. This only adds to his usefulness.

Nicola Marketing Manager

A long time ago, legends say Nicola was just a naïve young fresher at the University of Birmingham. Now, armed with a masters in Physics, a penchant for brewing lethal beer, and a disturbing passion for spreadsheets, she has risen through the ranks and after running Core Events at not one but two different university clubs, Nicola has taken over the entire SWA, becoming our new President.

Committed to the windsesh both on and off the water, Nic will insist that she can both hold down a bigger sail and drink more beer than you. Which one is true we will leave for you to find out...

Joel Aussie Kiss Coordinator

Originally a goat herder in the Swiss Alps, Joel was the muse for the early works of famous yodeler Hans Von Wichser. Unfortunately, none of them have ever been heard. Joel forged his first windsurf sail and board out of goat hair and discarded skis and, bleated on for luck, he started his journey in joining the SWA.

And no, he’s not a natural blond.

Ryan Tech Team

Full time partyer and parttime windsurfer, many have questioned whether they have ever seen Ryan out on the water before due to invariably having partied too hard the night before. Aside from IT helper and Imperial's social sec, he is known for getting lost on SWA weekends so if you see him in the wild, be sure to point him in the right direction!

Laura Media Team

Grown in a test tube by Taffy at his watersports centre in the depths of North Wales, Laura has just as much lash banter and even more hair. A chemical engineer at Birmingham, she promptly took over the windsurf club, joined the SWA and wondered what happened to all her free time. She is almost as big a fan of sarcasm as she is glitter. Not a massive fan of bouncers who laugh at her.

Tom Wave Coordinator

Tom organizes the world famous SWA WAVE TOUR! as well this he tries to balance being an international team rider, traveling the world making videos, sailing as many world-class wave spots as possible and trying to hold down a full-time job. He cried at his first AK when after 8 hours of driving to Devon, and his first sniff of the sea since starting Uni at landlocked Nottingham, he was informed his wave gear would be utterly useless because AK was held on a Lake and no one at his club had bothered to tell him this. He never made a podium in his time competing on the SWA wave tour which still surprises people and one time, whilst trouserless at Cardiff wave he was exposed as a member of Fall Out Boy. He never grew out of his teen emo phase and will confiscate any aux cable he can find to play his 00's sad soft punk rock playlist.

Ben Wave Coordinator

Ben is helping with the organisation of the wave series

Luke Media Master

Originally from Cornwall, Luke learnt to windsurf in the south of France during his summer holidays as a child. When he came to uni and was told about Aussie Kiss at Bristol's Freshers Fair, it was a no-brainer: have a sick time at a festival, maybe do some windsurfing, and even nip home to visit the parents, all in one weekend. Little did he know, that was the start of an addiction that just kept growing, and Luke has been to every event he could get to in the four years since.   Towards the end of his first year, when offered a week of windsurfing up in Colwyn Bay, he went along, not intending to do much with his instructors ticket other than maybe help out at some events. However, when his summer plans fell through, Luke found himself doing a season I'm Corsica, which he enjoyed so much that he ended up going on two more, in Lemnos and Vassiliki. Coming back with more skills each time, he put them to good use: instructing the new student windsurfers, and posing for every camera opportunity available. This love of teaching and love of instagram landed him with his first SWA committee positions in late 2017: Chief Instructor at AK, and Social Media Strategist (aka #InstaHoe).   Luke is now going into his 5th year of a Computer Science degree at Bristol, and is psyched to be the SWA’s Head of Media for the coming season. One of his main aims is to connect with the industry and increase the SWA’s presence among other like-minded companies and organisations, to make our events bigger and better than ever before! He is also looking forward to cultivating loads of juicy media for students to read and scroll through whilst they’re procrastinating their studies, spreading the word about how awesome windsurfing is to get more people out on the water sharing his passion.

Naomi Media Officer

Naomi was once a promising young French student studying English literature until she discovered windsurfing and surrendered to it completely (#french life). Now she can be found hunched over a laptop muttering about hashtags and follower demographics while updating the SWA instagram.

Michael Event Officer

After 8 years of being a below average rock climber, all it took was a taste of his first AK and Michael was converted to an equally mediocre windsurfer. Presumably trying to sabotage the final year of his degree, Michael decided that being one of UWE’s social secs wasn’t enough work, so he decided to help on the events team. During the week, he can be found frantically running around trying to fit his degree in between calling up suppliers for the SWA and managing UWE’s socials, while on the weekend he is normally found on a lake somewhere trying to figure out how to windsurf!

Sarah General Minion

Sarah started windsurfing on a family holiday when she was only a tiny 7-year-old water sproglet, and has been hooked ever since. Rising up through the RYA ranks on the Junior Olympic programme before going rogue and following the Professional Windsurfing Association (PWA) route. Sarah now spends every possible minute on the water, travelling the world to train or compete and making friends with turtle turtles. However, this doesn’t stop her attending as many SWA events as possible (on the rare occasion that she’s in the UK), whilst also supposedly doing a degree in Sports Performance at Bath.

Sarah got involved in the SWA committee in search of “BNOB” status at events, and is officially known as a “General Minion”, both because she helps in almost every area of committee (especially Media and Sponsorship) , but also due to her strong resemblance to a certain animated cartoon character... Her aim for this year is to help improve the SWA profile and sponsor relations, as well as helping the media team with event coverage.

Sarah is generally quite a modest person. That is until she has had a bottle of port where you will find her brandishing round the quote “Did you know I’m pro?” to anyone th

David Vice President

David the Friendly Ginger Person (FGP) loves people almost as much as windsurfing, although nobody has ever actually seen him windsurf - some say it is simply a myth. What is certain though is that he is a professional SWA addict. Currently preaching the Word of Windsurfing around the world, he will arrive back in time for the start of the new season, ready to step up and help the new committee to plan and lead another quality season with even more spectacular events around the country.

Rhea Media Officer

To be confirmed!

Laura Media Officer

Pablo Treasurer

Pablo has more last names than most, and he keeps a 'Top 3' list of them unbeknownst to many. As soon as he met the SWA at his first AK, he was hooked and passionate about this marvelous community, this eventually drove him to be an amazing President for Bristol. Upon his first windsurfing holiday, he became a BIG name for an act of great valour. He hopes to make the SWA filthy rich at the expense of unsuspecting poorly-planning students.
